Norwich is the "Rose City". Once known as an old mill town, It has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity as more people discover the natural beauty of it's location at the convergence of the Thames, Yantic, and Shetucket Rivers,
the beautiful Rose Garden at Mohegan Park,
the lovely restoration of it's downtown, starting with the amazing City Hall.
A new dinner theater offers cabaret and musicals. There is a professional baseball stadium, a golf course, and a new municipal ice skating rink. There are two museums:
LEFFINGWELL HOUSE MUSEUM
Step back in time to the late 1600s as you enter the home of Christopher Leffingwell. Provisioner to George Washington during the American Revolution, Leffingwell was also noted for building the first paper mill in Connecticut as well as a chocolate processing mill and a stocking mill. These were built along the Yantic River, harnessing its water power. Besides industry the Leffingwell home also hosted English clock maker, Thomas Harland, who repaid the family with several tall clocks still on exhibit today. A collection of fine silver form local silversmith Joseph Carpenter and children's toys can be viewed in this interesting history-filled home.
