Groton
This shoreline community is bounded on three sides by water: the Thames River, the Mystic River, and Long Island Sound. It is home to two major corporations: Pfizer, Inc, a pharmaceutical company, and General Dynamics, a builder of submarines for the US Navy. Currently, it is home port to a large submarine fleet at the US Submarine Base.
This lovely town encompasses many different areas: City of Groton, Groton Long Point, Noank, and half of Mystic are all part of the town of Groton. Each area has a distinct personality.
City of Groton

Incorporated in 1705, they city has a rich history. It has the only intact Revolutionary War battlefield, at Fort Griswold, now a state park.

The city, lying along the banks of the Thames River, includes the historic Groton Bank area of lovely old homes, the elegant turn-of-the-century "cottages" at Eastern Point, reminiscent of the Gatsby Era, when the magnificent Griswold Hotel attracted the rich and famous.

and the beautiful waterfront campus of the University of Connecticut, Avery Point, located at the old Plant estate, with magnificent old stone buildings and the Avery Point lighthouse.
