Ledyard
Ledyard is a lovely town on the banks of the Thames River, north of Groton, and south of Preston. It was settled in 1653, but only incorporated in 1836 when it split from Groton. The current population is approximately 15,600, with most of the residents commuting to jobs in nearby towns.
Ledyard covers an area of 40.5 square miles, and includes Gales Ferry Village, a National Register of Historic Places site. It hosts the northern half of the US Submarine Base, and is also home to Dow Chemical.

Ericson Park
The world famous Foxwoods Resort Casino is located in the northeastern part of town, on the border with N. Stonington. The casino has put Ledyard, CT on the map.
